Frog's home |
My colleague just completed a fun Frog and Toad Unit in her Pre-K 4 class. What I love about the unit is that there were lots of opportunities for retelling the Frog and Toad stories with various fun props (including both frog and toad cardboard homes).
That's Frog and Toad in a tree (that the kids made by sponge painting). |
The kids added fun hats to their "people." |
Kites are attached to their "hands" and then hung from the ceiling. |
Each child sewed a button on this sweater after reading "The Lost Button." |
Toad's house, complete with a mailbox so they could mail letters to Toad. |
Arnold Lobel has been our Author of the Week for two weeks now. My students and I LOVE the Frog & Toad books. What's not to like about them? I love the little settings for kids to play and retell the stories. I especially liked the idea of having the kids sew a button on a sweater for the story The Button. Thanks for sharing your great ideas!!
